Our Services

Our CPAs offer elegant solutions for taxation, accounting and financial strategy, providing our clients with what they need to succeed.

Crypto Tax Calculations

Classification of activity and a Canadian adjusted cost base, built to be reviewed rather than exported from software and filed. We use the facts of the activity to classify assets and trading as capital or income, then rebuild wallets, chains, exchanges, DeFi, mining, staking, NFTs, and foreign revenue to a Canadian cost base. Deliverables are gain and loss calculations across multiple wallets and exchanges, portfolio and token classification, and a defensible Canadian ACB for investors, traders, and companies. The output is the calculation file behind a return, a disclosure, or a report. It is not tax advice, a CRA filing, or an audit opinion.

Tax Advisory and Filings

Canadian crypto tax reporting and CRA compliance for individuals, corporations, and trusts. We prepare T1, T2, and T3 returns, with crypto reported on the right schedules, including foreign reporting such as T1135 and T1134 where the facts require it. Advisory sits on top the calculation file: capital versus income, business structure, multi-year planning, and how on-chain activity should be presented under existing CRA guidance. The return is prepared so the numbers and the classification can be explained. Audit defence and voluntary disclosures are separate engagements.

CRA Representation and Defence

Representation when a crypto file is already in front of the CRA. We act for individuals and corporations on reviews, audits, and proposals that turn on digital asset classification, cost base, unreported wallets or exchanges, foreign property, mining, staking, or DeFi. The work is the response: reconstructing the calculation, tying positions to existing CRA guidance, and putting a defensible record in front of the auditor. We do not replace counsel on a dispute. We supply the specialist file the representation stands on.

Voluntary Disclosure Program Filings

CRA Voluntary Disclosures Program filings for unreported or misreported crypto. We scope the years, wallets, exchanges, and foreign venues in the disclosure, rebuild the Canadian cost base, and classify the activity so the package matches what the program asks for. The filing includes the calculations, the returns or adjustments, and the narrative of what was missed and how it was corrected. It is for clients who are not yet under audit and want the disclosure made before the CRA finds the gap.

CSRS 4400 Reports

Agreed-upon procedures reports under Canadian Standard on Related Services 4400, used when a crypto balance, cost base, or valuation has to be tested rather than merely stated. Typical use is family law, estate, and shareholder disputes, and any matter where holdings or values will be challenged. Procedures are agreed in advance: wallet and exchange existence, on-chain transaction testing, ACB recomputation, and valuation inputs. We report factual findings. We do not give an audit opinion or a fairness conclusion. The report is what makes the number refutable.

IFRS Digital Asset Audit Specialist Services

Specialist support for auditors who need the digital asset section of an IFRS file done to a standard they can stand behind. The auditor keeps the client and the opinion. We take the section: blockchain reliability memos, design and implementation of internal controls, on-chain validation of transactions, staking income reasonability, valuation testing, accounting policies, and note disclosures. Coverage includes treasuries, payments, tokens, and mining or staking subsidiaries. Deliverables are workpapers and specialist memoranda, not the audit report.

Web3 Financial Statements

Books and reporting for Canadian Web3 companies that have to face shareholders, a board, a buyer, or an auditor. We bring structure and policies, keep the ledger for treasuries, token payments, mining, staking, DeFi, and NFT activity, and we produce current financial statements and audit workpapers that can survive diligence, audit, the CRA, and a detail-oriented shareholder. Finance teams also get support on modelling, cap tables, token compensation, and capital raises. Experience includes mining, exchanges, DeFi, and NFT projects. Audit representation and tax filings are separate engagements.

"I've been a happy client of Metrics for 4 years now, and I couldn't be more pleased with their service. I doubt any other Canadian firm could have navigated the complex nature of reconciling years of crypto activity against the CRA. They are professional, experts in their field, and their grasp of crypto-related tax policies in Canada are second to none."
