2019 Community Report

Metrics is a locally owned and operated digital accounting firm.

Engaging in the community is one of many ways their team prevails in staying connected and 2019 was no exception. Compiling countless volunteer hours, scholarships, coaching, and numerous cash contributions; Metrics continually proves to be more than just your average chartered professional accountant company.

Giving Back to the Community

Time

Time is one of the only things in life that we can never gain back, making it our most valuable asset. And what better way to pay it forward than to give others some of your time?

In 2019 Metrics staff members contributed their time and dexterity within numerous committees and charities.

  • Regan McGrath, CPA CA, Metrics CEO, divided some of her spare time between advising on the PD Committee Board for Women in Capital Markets, as well as, on the PD Committee for CPABC.
  • Kyle Mackenzie, CPA, Metrics CFO, lent some of his time and expertise as a treasurer for the Disabled Sailing Association and as a member of the CPA Assurance advisory board.
  • Sean Annable BBA, Metrics Jr. Associate, assisted the CFO of the Innovative Communities Foundation, and Rajin Allen BA, Metrics Jr. Associate volunteered his time to the ICONIX Golf for Kids charity golf tournament.

Cash Contributions

A cash donation is usually the most straightforward way to help organizations respond in a flexible, timely and cost-efficient manner to provide help to those in need.

In 2019, Metrics donated all proceeds from a Winter Cocktail Party donating to the Mustard Seed Foundation. Metrics also contributes, yearly, to the BC Cancer Society and provides an Annual Sponsored Scholarship with Camosun College to celebrate Females in Finance and Technology and assist with their continued academic pursuits.

Education

The importance of education is no secret and at Metrics we believe in sharing our abilities and expertise, hoping to change the world into a better place. From speaking at conferences across Canada to giving educational presentations at high schools to coaching girls soccer, Regan McGrath, CPA CA, Metrics CEO, enjoys sharing her wealth of knowledge with crowds of all ages.

On evenings and weekends, Chelsea Rabey B.Sc. Head Of Operations at Metrics, can be found on the sidelines coaching for the Victoria Junior Field Hockey Association. Darren Lee, BBA Sr. Associate at Metrics, is an international judo competitor and was appointed Head Instructor at the University of Victoria Judo Club, Darren also volunteers to coach junior and senior judo classes within the community.

Carry Forward:

With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. But the staff at Metrics remain involved in their community and find the benefits of giving back very rewarding. Whether that’s volunteering time to coach field hockey, judo or soccer, assisting charitable organizations, sitting on their board of advisors, offering insight to the CPA professional association, or providing scholarships to those in our community, Metrics gives back to those who surround us. Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community. The Metrics team is proud to stand behind their commitment to the community and will carry this commitment forward in 2020 and beyond.
